King’atua, Ochomo hand Bandari timely boost

Coast-based Kenyan Premier League club Bandari has completed the signing of former Congo United striker Wycllife Ochomo and Rwanda’s national youth goalkeeper Abubakar Bashunga as it wrapped up its transfer business.

Bashunga joins the Dockers from Rwandese club Rayon Sport.

Midfield maestro David King’atua has also rejoined the club after a short playing career in Sweden in 2017.

“We have decided to go for a blend of experienced and young players and we are confident of a successful 2018 season,” Twahir Muhiddin, the team’s technical director said.

The club has also promoted to its senior team five players from its youth wing. They are Jude Otieno, Swaleh Chacha, Hassan Shamawia, Dennis Magige and Joachim Dahili.

The club has so far released five players including Enock Agwanda, Jacob Keli, and Moses Kinyanjui .

The veteran dead-ball specialist, Noah Abich, was also affected by the purge.

At the same time, veteran goalkeeper Wilson Oburu has been appointed as assistant goalkeeper trainer cum acting team manager. Razak Siwa retains his slot as goalkeeping coach.

Last season Bandari finished at position 10 with 43 points. The Ken Odhiambo coached side open its league campaign against the 2017 runner-up Sofapaka on February 4 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Meanwhile, the team will this weekend head to Rarieda, Siaya County, for the burial of their long-serving team manager Alfred Achayo Obwaka who passed on abruptly early last week.
