Kinyamal, Kigen shine at Paris DL

Commonwealth Games 800m champion Wycliffe Kinyamal led Olympic silver medalist Ferguson Rotich to a Kenyan 1-2 finish at the Paris Diamond League on Saturday evening.

Kinyamal clocked 1:43.94 as Rotich came home second in 1:44.45 as Marco Arop of Canada settled for third in 1:44.74.

Olympic 3000m steeplechase bronze medallist Benjamin Kigen stormed to victory in water and barrier race when he clocked a world leading time of 8:07.12.

Abraham Kibiwott (8:09.35) and Leonard Bett (8:10.21) who also competed for Kenya at the Tokyo Games placed second and third respectively.

World champion Conseslus Kipruto and Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali of Morocco did not finish the race.

World 5,000m silver medallist Margaret Chelimo placed third in the women’s 3000m after clocking a new personal best of 8:21.53

Another Kenyan Beatrice Chebet ranked 11th.
