Kipkoech, Chebet headline Baringo race

Defending champions Isaac Kipkoech and Sandrafelis Chebet will headline the 2018 Baringo road race set for Sunday at the Kabarnet Museum grounds in Baringo County.

Kipkoech who successfully defended his crown last year cutting the tape in 1:01.47 in the 21km race is however set to participate in the 10km road race.

On the other hand, reigning World U20-5000m champion Chebet who won last year’s 10km race in 33:11 will be in to defend her title.

Chebet is who fresh from winning the Isaiah Kiplagat Ndalat Gaa memorial cross country race last month has a personal best of 30:57 she set in Valencia, Spain.

Apart from the 10km race, the event will also feature 6km and 4km races for amateur men and women respectively.

The annual event has become a launching pad for many athletes including world marathon women’s only record holder and three-time New York Marathon champion, Mary Keitany and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games 10000m champion, Joyce Chepkirui.
