Kishoiyan, Moraa win 400m at National Trials

The national 400m champion Alphas Kishoiyan and Mary Moraa clinched 400m titles as the Kenyan Trials for the World Championships entered the final day at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

Kishoiyan who had already hit the qualification mark for the Worlds clocked 45.65 ahead of Alex Sampao (46.06) and Joseph Poghisio (46.20) who finished second and third respectively.

In the women’s category, Moraa won the race in 52.16 ahead of Gladys Musyoki 52.89 and Linda Kageha 52.92.

The national 400m record holder Hellen Syombua who has already qualified for the world event alongside Moraa finished sixth in 59.99

Syombua who has been battling with a thigh injury said she has recovered fully ahead of the global event.

“Today I was just assessing my body but I want to tell my fans that I am alright and waiting for the World Championships,” Syombua said.
