Kisii crashes out of Kicosca Games

Defending football champions of Kenya Inter-counties Sports and Cultural Association(Kicosca), Kisii County executive team crashed out of the competitions after 2-1 defeat to Kilifi on Thursday at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.

With the fifth edition of Kicosca gaining momentum in day three, Kilifi knew winning against the champions will help them sail through to the knockout stages after Trans Nzoia had qualified first in pool A .

On the pitch, Eric Ndune’s brace in the second half proved enough for Chrispus Kalama coached team to qualify for the knockout stages.

Kisii took an early lead after captain Edwin Masinde scored from the spot but they could not hold onto the lead.

In a post-match interview with Citizen Digital, Kalama termed the win “as the start of the journey to the finals on Saturday”.

” I think this year we can do something because Kisii was a difficult team bearing in mind they are  the defending champions.We are going to focus now on knockout stage and if we sail through to quarters then we can dream of lifting the cup,’ Kalama said.

Elsewhere, Meru County Assembly members qualified for the knockout stage after hitting 2-0 past Kisii County Assembly members in men football at Kenyatta Stadium.

Martin Koome scored the lead in the eighth minute, with Enock Ojodeh scoring the second after the breather to fire Meru to the top of  pool F with 4 points.
