Kisii down Mombasa to clinch KRU Championship title

Resolution Kisii have won the KRU Championship with a 25-10 victory over Mombasa in the final played at the Kenyatta University on Saturday.

Isaac Wafula would sneak in a 16th minute drop goal to give Kisii a 3-0 lead before Elvis Namusasi responded with a 33rd minute penalty from Elvis Namusasi.

Amos Obae would land a try on the stroke of half time, Isaac Wafula converting for the 10-3 score at the break.

Obae would his land brace after the break, Wafula with the extras for a 17-3 score. Mombasa were soon reduced to 14 men, Benedict Wesonga binned for an offense.

Namusasi would soon visit the bin, the Coastal side paying the price for their indiscipline.

Wafula would drill home a penalty as Kisii led 20-3 before Ian Amara landed for a 25-3 score. Moses Litunya’s converted try at the death reduced the deficit for Mombasa.
