Kisii wont say die yet as Strathmore come to town

Resolution Kisii RFC Chairman Walter Orangi says the club is in buoyant mood ahead of Saturday’s Kenya Cup tie against Strathmore Leos RFC at the Gusii Stadium.

Hosts Kisii go into the match on the back of a revivifying 18-12 win over Stanbic Mwamba RFC and Orangi has urged his charges to use that win as a pivot to turn around what has been a miserable debut season.

Strathmore are placed sixth on the 12-team Kenya Cup log and will be keen to boost their chances of earning a post-season playoffs qualifying spot with a win at Kisii.

“We are ready for the game against Leos since nobody gets into a battle without being ready and one thing I can promise our fans is that we will succeed and maintain our top flight status at the end of the season.

“Our win against Mwamba is now under the bridge but the main objective is to remain focused in the remaining games,” Orangi said.

A loss for Kisii will toughen their relegation puzzle and will also mean Nondescripts RFC are mathematically safe from the axe.

The match was originally slated for last year December 9 but postponed at Strathmore Leo’s request due to playing ground technicalities.

The Eric Shirley Shield will curtain raise the clash at 2:00pm (EAT).
