Yego who hails from Trans Nzoia braved the scorching sun in Kisumu to win the race title in 2:17.30 followed closely by Abraham Too from Nandi County in 2:25.30 while Jackson Gumo came third in 2:28.30 in the race that attracted foreigners from Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.

“The sun was too hot and that made the race really tough and I’m happy to have emerged the winner,” the excited Yego said in his post race interview.
