KOT tell off Daily Mail over article undermining Kipchoge's London conquest

In Summary

  • Kenyans on Twitter(KOT), in their true element, made their feelings known, tearing to shreds the narrative peddled by the English tabloid.

As Kenya, Africa and the rest of the world continue to celebrate Kenyan athletes for reigning supreme in the Sunday  London Marathon, particularly the fete of the all-conquering Eliud Kipchoge, a controversial article published by  Daily Mail Online in the wake of Kipchoge’s conquest has attracted the wrath of Kenyans.

According to the article published on Sunday under the headline, “The evolution of marathon running in recent years is troubling… it’s hard not to question the elite in the £1bn race,” the Daily Mail seems to punch holes in Kipchoge’s feat, a man who has conquered the London course for a record four years!

And not to be left behind, Kenyans on Twitter(KOT), in their true element, made their feelings known, tearing to shreds the narrative peddled by the English tabloid.

Using the hash tag, #SomeoneTell @MailOnline, Kenyans tweeted messages to criticize the article which also claimed that “Eliud Kipchoge was setting records while his country faces a major doping crisis” in a thinly veiled attack to Kenya after half marathon world record holder Abraham Kiptum was suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit for an Athlete Biological Passport violation prior to the competition.

In the race, Kipchoge ran the second fastest marathon time ever to clinch his fourth London Marathon title on Sunday, ahead of Britain’s Mo Farah who struggled in fifth, while Brigid Kosgei impressed to win the women’s race.

Here are some of the Kenyans tweets directed at Daily Mail.
