KPA out to seal KBF title in Mombasa

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) could seal back to back Kenya Basketball Federation titles with just two games to spare from their best-of-five series playoffs final against Blades over the weekend.

The champions took a commanding 2-0 lead last weekend after seeing out Blades  51-50 in Game One and 68-37 in Game Two at the African Nazarene University in Nairobi.

The women’s matchup is poised in identical fashion with KPA’s female counterparts holding the lead over champions Equity Hawks ahead of the remaining legs that will run from February 24-26 in Mombasa.

Hawks coach David Maina, whose side lost 77-67 and 60-53 in Games One and Two, said they are unlucky to be on the back foot but is assured they can overturn the deficit.

“We had more chances compared to KPA but we failed to utilize them. We are going to improve on our scoring percentage so that we win Game Three and boost confidence for Games Four and Five,” Maina told Citizen Digital.

Maina admitted they ‘must fight’ face a do-or-die clash against a determined KPA with the slightest of slips certain to cost them the KBF title.
