KPA seek strong finish to KBF league season

The Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Women’s champions KPA will be chasing a runners-up finish when they finish their league campaign with double fixtures over the weekend.

The holders are third behind Equity Bank and Storms and could leapfrog the latter into second with victories against Footprints and Eagle Wings whom they host at the KPA Makande Gymnasium in Mombasa.

The Dockers who recently finished second at the Africa Zone Five Championship in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania have had mixed results in the league this season and have been outshone by Equity.

KPA head coach Antony Ojukwu said they are prepared for the weekend matches.

“We are going to take what is ours which is the championship. We are ready and the team is in good spirit,” Ojukwu said.

In their previous league match played in Kakamega, KPA hammered Western Delight 88-37 and will look to maintain that form against ninth-placed Footprints who have nothing to lose having already missed out on a play-off spot.

KPA will then meet Eagle wings on Sunday who have 26 points at the same venue; KPA Makande Gymnasium from 9:00 am in the morning.

Meanwhile Zetech University who are currently fifth on the log with 29 points will be playing their last match of the league against Western Delight at USIU grounds on Saturday.
