KPA seize playoff lead in KBF final

KPA went 1-0 against Equity Bank as they got the playoff final start they would have wanted in their quest to defend the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) title.

The titleholders defeated Equity Bank 67-57 at the Makande Gymnasium in Mombasa to leave them needing just two more wins before they can be declared champions again.

KPA won the opening quarter 14-08 before going 22-12 as they reached half-time with a healthy 36-20 advantage.

Equity recovered to post a shock 27-13 win in the third quarter but those energy levels dropped off again as they slumped to an 18-10 loss in the final quarter.

“I’m happy for the team, I feel great my players came out stronger in the fourth quarter after losing the third quarter and now we can look forward to tomorrow’s match,” KPA head coach Antony Ojukwu said after the victory.

The two will lock horns clash again on Thursday in Game Two at the same venue.
