KPL matches to proceed as planned despite terror attack – Oguda

Kenya Premier League CEO Jack Oguda has said all Kenyan Premier League matches planned for this week will go as scheduled despite the terror attack that rocked the country yesterday.

In an interview with Citizen Digital, Oguda added that they had not received   any communication from the Security agencies on possible reasons for the postponement of the matches, noting that security will be beefed up across the stadia.

Yesterday, terrorists struck Dusit 2 Hotel located on 14 Riverside Drive in Nairobi with sports journalist James Oduor among the victims, while hundreds sustained injuries.

“The midweek and weekend matches will go on as scheduled, we haven’t received any communication froom the government security agencies that warrant the postponement of the matches so they will go on as planned,” said Oguda.

Record champions Gor Mahia will on Wednesday afternoon take on Mount Kenya United at Kasarani while second placed Bandari will host Posta Rangers at Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa on Thursday.

“There will be maximum security in all the league matches and fans are requested to be vigilant and report any cases of suspicion to the authority,” he added.
