KRU sign Sh37.5m deal with EABL

The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has signed Sh37.5 million deal with East African Breweries Ltd (EABL) to sponsor Kenya Lionesses, Kenya Sevens, Safari Sevens and 2020 international competitions.

During the unveiling of the partnership in Nairobi, the two parties agreed Sh2.5 million will cater for the Kenya Lionesses, Sh5 million for preparations of the 2020 internationals, Sh10 million for the Kenya Sevens and Sh20 million for Safari Sevens.

The Kenya Breweries Ltd (KBL) marketing Director Jane Karuku said that EABL is wants to help in the growth of rugby in Kenya.

“We love how rugby grows players, from highschool all the way to club level. It’s a sense of National Pride that brings the country together. We’re soon going to celebrate 100 years and we look forward to seeing rugby at the forefront of the celebration.

“We’re look forward to working with the union to promote positive drinking and responsibility to the young generation with this new partnership,” Karuku said.

The deal is a big boost for Kenya Lionesses who are preparing to defend their African women title at the Africa Women Rugby Sevens championship, a competition that will also double up as Olympic 2020 qualifiers to take place from 13th October in Jemmel, Tunisia.
