KSSA boss Orero attributes SOYA fete to U-16 football success

The successful hosting of the 2018 Africa Under-16 football champions in Nakuru was the key factor to Kenya Secondary Sports Association (KSSSA) winning the SOYA 2018 Best Sports Federation, the school association boss Peter Orero has said.

Orero took up his new job with gusto just a few months after being elected as the KSSA chairman leading the association in retaining the top slot at the East Africa Secondary School Sports Association (FEASSA) games which were held in Musanze, Rwanda.

This heroic was quickly followed by another feat– successfully hosting the first edition of the Africa U-16 football championship in which Kenya prevailed too bagging the overall crown.

Orero has however called on the Ministry of Education to continue according association the support.

“I can’t say it was easy, but most disciplines are the same; it was brought about by posterity in the ministry and this time round it will even be bigger,” he re ckoned.

In 2018, after the scrapping of Term 2A Games, handball and athletics events were moved to Term 1 Games, while rugby sevens, netball, U-16 football, cross country, decathlon and heptathlon events were moved to Term 2B joining football, volleyball and racquet
