KSSSA: White House to face defending champions Kimilili in handball semis
Little known White House will have an uphill task on Friday as they face defending champions St. Luke’s Kimilili Boys in handball semi finals, in the ongoing National Secondary School Games in Mombasa.
The Coast Region representatives edged Mang’u High School 20-17 in their last preliminary match to set up a crunch last-four tie against the champions.
According to White House head Coach Roman Jembe, the weather conditions and home ground support have played a critical role in their success thus far.
“This achievement is historic; we thank our fans for showing up in large numbers to support us. We are also enjoying the weather here that appears to be a challenge to our opponents,” offered the coach.
Elsewhere, Mbooni from Eastern also stormed into semi finals after outscoring Nyanza’s Kanyawanga 15-14 to set a date with Mangu in another last-four encounter slated for Friday.
In hockey, Nyamira girls and St. Johns Kaloleni secured semi final slots after winning their final preliminary matches both by solitary goals against St. Mary’s Taachasis and St. Joseph’s Kibwezi respectively.
Nyamira head coach Steven Kigai said they are focused and are eager to make amends after they were eliminated at the same stage last year.
“We fought hard and that will be our spirit going forward as we don’t want to repeat the same mistake as last year,’’ said Kigai.
Nyamira will thus face St. Cecilia as St. John’s Kaloleni square it out with Kerugoya in the semis.
