Kuol hits winner as Sharks down Gor in thriller

Kariobangi Sharks defender John Kuol Chol struck a late winner to settle a seven-goal thriller which his side edged 4-3 against Gor Mahia FC at the Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.

The result was Gor’s fifth straight defeat in all competitions and left them 16th on the FKF Premier League standings after seven rounds although the champions still have four games in hand.

After falling 3-1 at the break, Gor put up a spirited display in the second half after goals from John Macharia and Geoffrey Ochieng levelled the scores only for Kuol to find the winner for Sharks with 12 minutes on the clock.

Head coach Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto, who was unveiled earlier in the day, watched on the stands as his new team fell a goal after just five minutes following Erick Kapaito’s opener.

Gor found the reply ten minutes later through Clifton Miheso who knocked home the equaliser after the ball had ricocheted off the post.

Daniel Sakari put Sharks back in front and Kapaito scored his second seven minutes to half time to ensure his side took a healthy 3-1 advantage into half time.

In other matches, Tusker FC edged Kakamega Homeboyz 1-0 thanks to Henry Meja’s second half strike while Nzoia Sugar and Western Stima drew 1-1 with Gin Juma and Bron Oketch trading the goals.
