Lay off Kahata, wounded Gor warn Simba

Gor Mahia has warned Simba SC against luring their play-maker Francis Kahata without following the due process.

Kahata has been the subject of intense speculation here in Dar es Salaam with reports rife that he could bolt out of K’Ogalo and join the Tanzanian outfit.

However, in an interview with Citizen Digital, Gor’s Mahia’s team manager Jolawi Abondo warned that their midfield gem has a running contract with the club which must be respected.

“Francis(Kahata) is still our player. He has a one-year contract. If anyone is tapping him then that’s a crime, and we can take stern action,”Abondo warned.

In a separate interview on Sunday in the wake of  a 2-2 draw with Rayon Sports, head coach Dylan Kerr also weighed in, maintaining that the transfer talk is taking toll on Kahata.

“There is a lot of pressure on Francis Kahata because Simba are illegally talking to my player… that may be affecting him.It affects all the players because Kahata is a good player.”

The Kahata links come barely a week after Simba SC pulled a coup signing Meddie Kagere from Gor Mahia at a crucial time in the club’s calendar.

Apart from the ongoing Cecafa Club Championship, Gor are competing in the Caf Confederations Cup, the FKF -Shield as well as in the domestic league.

K’Ogalo began their campaign for the Cecafa title with a 2-2 draw against battling Rayon Sports and will have to be at their best in their next matches if they are to get out of Group B.

Others teams in the group are Lydia Ludic of Burundi and AS Ports of Djibouti.

Meanwhile, two matches are lined up for this afternoon. Singinda United of Tanzania will lock horns with Dakadaha from Somalia from 2pm at Chamazi Stadium as Simba SC confront  APR of Rwanda at the National Stadium from 4pm.
