Leaders Mathare brace for Tusker test

Tusker FC and Mathare United clash over the weekend in what signifies the highlight fixture for round seven of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).

Tusker go into the match on the back of a four-match winning streak and will be intent on ending Mathare’s unbeaten start to the new season as top meets third at the Ruaraka Grounds.

Along with Western Stima and Bandari FC, the duo has emerged as the frontrunners of the new campaign with the match offering Mathare yet another chance to underline their title credentials.

The Slum Boys drew 1-1 against champions Gor Mahia FC in their previous outing while Tusker claimed a 2-3 victory over Sofapaka FC at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

At the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, Mt Kenya United will be hoping to clinch their first win of the season against Bandari who have picked up from where they left last season to emerge as another formidable title challenger.

The tie will mark the first of a double-header at the venue, where AFC Leopards will be hoping to return to winning ways against newly promoted side KCB FC who sit joint-bottom of the KPL table.

At the Bukhungu stadium, Kakamega Homeboyz will be eyeing their third win of the season as they welcome 15th placed Zoo Kericho.

On Sunday, the first match will pit sixth-placed Kariobangi Sharks against the in-form Stima in Machakos while Sony Sugar face Ulinzi Stars at the Green Stadium in Awendo.
