Leaders Nzoia out to arrest Police as Shabana return

National Super League (NSL) leaders; Nzoia United visit Police FC in the tenth round of the second-tier competition hoping to sustain their unbeaten run to the season while Shabana FC will finally make their delayed start to the campaign by entertaining Bidco FC in Awendo on Sunday.

Nzoia, the former national champions are on 23 points, two clear of Nakumatt FC at the summit with a game in hand and face a Police side that has only won twice in the season to languish in 15th, a gapping 18 points in arrears to the leaders.

With Nzoia seemingly charging through the second-tier like a train, focus will be on Awendo Green Stadium where another fallen former top flight giant, Shabana will launch their belated NSL campaign against 12th-placed Bidco.

Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko came to the rescue of the Gusii-based community titans when he paid the outstanding balance of their registration fee of KSh70,000 on Tuesday to fulfill Football Kenya Federation’s requirements to take up their place.

The Sports Tribunal ruled in Shabana’s favour after the federation threw them out of the second-tier at the beginning of the season.

At the other end of the spectrum, new Wazito FC coach Frankline Obare faces a baptism of fire on his debut after Francis Xavier parted ways with the team earlier this week by mutual consent leaving them seventh on 15 points.

Obare, who has been serving the team as a first coach, is to test his senior managerial position when his boys’ hard fight the host Vihiga United who are a point and a place below them.

Leonard Saleh’s KCB are out to sustain their three matches unbeaten run when they host Nakumatt with a four-point gap between the two.

Elsewhere, the third from bottom Ligi Ndogo who have since managed five points from a possible 21 of their nine games have a stern test against the high-flying former leaders Zoo Kericho.

That clash on Saturday will be preceded by the clash of basement side and visiting Modern Coast and Moyas FC who are three places above them.

Coast-based Modern who lost to slum boys Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 on Monday evening, are bottom placed with only two points after losing seven and drawing twice.

On Sunday Abel Ayuko’s Oserian host St. Joseph’s at the same time FC Talanta and Kisumu’s Palos battle out.

Sharks under Mike Amenga have a testing assignment against Nakuru All Stars who were axed from the SportPesa Premier League last season.

Agro Chemicals take on Nairobi Stima with all games scheduled to kick off at 4pm (+3GMT) local time.
