Leopards agelong stadium dream gains momentum after Mudavadi donation

AFC Leopards have every reason to smile after Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi offered Sh633, 000 to the club to help with the processing of the title deed for a 20-acre parcel of land, to jumpstart the process of constructing the club’s stadium.

The land in question is in Kasarani which was offered to the club, together with Gor Mahia, to construct their own stadia by ex-president, the late Daniel arap Moi.

To date, decades later, nothing has materialized from the gesture and the ANC boss, a die-in-wool Leopards fan took the bold step of jumpstarting the process.

If implemented, having an own stadium will save Ingwe the pain of hoping from one stadium to another, to host their league matches.

“We want to offer hope to AFC Leopards in these trying times,” he said. “Since many years ago they were allocated some piece of land but the difficult times and challenges of sports especially soccer in this country made it difficult for AFC Leopards to pay the required standing premium and charge to have their land processed,”Mudavadi said.

“So what we are doing is to present the full amount of Ksh 633,000 to AFC Leopards payable to the Ministry of Lands so that they can pay for that land,” he explained, when he handed over the cheque to club Chairman Dan Shikanda, through the Musalia Mudavadi Foundation on Friday.

He added: “We want AFC Leopards to have a permanent home.”

Present at the event were former club chairman Alfred Sambu who has also served as Webuye East Member of Parliament, club treasurer Maurice Chichi, secretary general Oliver Sikuku and team captain Robinson Kamura
