Leopards bank on new signings as Gor nab Sempala

AFC Leopards team manager Tom Juma says the big cats will be counting on new signings Paul Were and Bonface Mukhekhe’s experiences to bolster their performance in the Kenyan Premier League which has so far been underwhelming as the final phase of the season takes shape.

Leopards who raced to beat the April 8 deadline of the mid-season transfer window to bring on board  Mukhekhe and Were  also promoted youngster Augustine Odhiambo from the AFC junior team on a three-year deal.

Were has been there before, he is experienced and has played professional so I think that they will add value to our style of play and hopefully they will help us climb the table,”Juma said.

Juma is optimistic about Austin’s ability noting that his promotion should have come earlier but because the team was under pressure to perform, they could not take chances bringing him on board.

“He is a young promising player and we would have picked him way back but because were under pressure to deliver, we could not risk or take chances of taking Austin but right now we want him to grow in the team and hopefully help us next season.”

Elsewhere, Gor Mahia also managed to beat the deadline to get a hold of Hashim Sempala from Tusker FC on a two-year deal.
