Leopards bosses in crunch meeting with fate of Marko top on the agenda

AFC Leopards secretary Oscar Igaida has refuted reports that head coach Marko Vesiljevic has ditched the club.

Reports surfaced last evening that Marko had quit his role following the 4-1 defeat to Bandari in a league match played in Mombasa last evening, less than four days after losing 1-0 to Zoo Kericho.

At the same time Igaida said that the club management will have a special seating this afternoon to discuss the recent poor performance that has seen the league giants drop to number 15 in the league, having picked two wins in ten games, and Marko’s issue is expected to feature prominently in the deliberations.

“Those reports are not true, he is still with us, and he has not served us with any notice.

“The club management will have a special seating on Monday afternoon to discuss the reason for the team’s poor performance which has caused a lot of concern from the fans and the team’s leadership,” he said.

A series of underwhelming performances have held the former KPL champions hostage putting the Serbian’s job in danger.

Vasiljevic was summoned after the 1-0 defeat to KCB a few weeks ago, and was served with a warning.

The situation got bad at the Mbaraki Sports Club on Sunday  when the fans held the players hostage demanding an explanation for the recent spate of poor performances from an otherwise good squad and it took the intervention of the police to whisk them away.

“Ingwe is a big team that doesn’t deserve to be at position 15,we have to get to the bottom of the matter  to find what is not going right and come up with a quick solution that will bring us positive results ,”Igaida told Citizen Digital

Vasiljevic replaced fellow Serbian tactician Nikola Kavazovic, the man who he was to deputise at Ingwe.

The duo had worked together at Township Rollers of Botswana with Marko as the assistant coach.
