Leopards coach Aussems blames pitch, Vihiga tactics for tame barren draw

AFC Leopards head coach Patrick Aussems has blamed poor pitch condition and long balls approach by Vihiga United for their barren draw at Mumias Sports Complex on Saturday.

The Belgian is however satisfied with his boys performance saying that with that type of game, ‘if you can’t win, then you must not lose it’.

“I told the players before that it will be a tough game regarding the quality of the pitch because we cannot apply our playing style on such a pitch.

We had to adapt to United’s long balls approach and could do nothing much but to accept a draw which is fair rather than losing all the three points,”Aussems added.

Aussems at the same time  added that they have to improve if they are to get results in future, under difficult circumstances.

“We cannot play total football on this kind of pitch and it’s a big call for us to improve and get the results we want to post.

We were forced to adapt to their style of play and that created a lot of problems for us and locked us out of scoring from breakthroughs,” concluded Aussems.

His counterpart Sammy Okoth is however satisfied with the one point collected from Leopards who have been on a winning streak.

“After losing in our previous matches I would say that a draw from a tougher side like AFC Leopards is very crucial to us.

This one will motivate us going forward and we are expecting to start winning and doing better even more than how we did today,” said Okoth.
