Leopards coach Kavazovic to return next week

Nicola Kavazovic is expected back in the country ‘next week’ amid claims the Serbian had parted ways with AFC Leopards before he even took up his role as head coach.

Kavazovic had barely been introduced to his team when he returned to Serbia in bizarre circumstances with online speculation claiming the former Township Rollers boss had terminated his Leopards deal.

The official statement as posted Leopards’ online platforms said the Serb had requested to leave in order to attend to a ‘ family matter’ but their stance has not stopped the wave of speculation.

A source at the Den told Citizen Digital that ‘Mr Fix it’ as Kavazovic is commonly known is through with what he had gone to attend to in Serbia and will return ‘any time next week’.

“Let me assure you that Nicola is still Leopards head coach, I don’t want to talk much about this issue. Everything is alright and you will definitely see the coach next week.”

Reports had claimed Kavazovic was leading the race to succeed Luc Eymael at Free State Stars in the South African Premier Socccer League and is thought to have missed out on the position.

He reportedly had a bitter exchange with Leopards Organising Secretary Timothy Lilumbi who slammed in for the manner in which he had left and even asked the coach to pay up his sign-on fee and leave for good.

AFC Leopards drew 1-1 with FKF Shield champions Kariobangi Sharks in their Kenyan Premier League (KPL) opener with Kavazovic’s assistant Marko Vilijevic on the dugout. They play Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium,Kakamega on Saturday.
