Leopards coach Marko quits?

AFC Leopards coach Marko Vasiljevic has reportedly quit his position barely two months after taking over the Kenya Premier League side.

Citizen Digital understands that the Serbian who took over at helm at Ingwe at the start of December last year, has resigned after a 4-1 drubbing in the hands of coastal side Bandari FC at the Mbaraki Grounds on Sunday afternoon.

The Serbian reportedly told his players after the final whistle that that was his final game, wishing them the best of luck in their future endeavors.

“I will not be in charge of the next game. This is my final game and I want to wish the team the best of luck,” Marko reportedly told his charges after the defeat.

The situation at Mbaraki got bad when the fans held the players hostage demanding an explanation for the recent run of poor performances from an otherwise good squad and it took the help of the police to whisk them away.

A series of underwhelming performances have held the former KPL champions hostage putting  the Serbian’s job in danger.

Vasiljevic was summoned after the 1-0 defeat to KCB a few weeks ago, and was served with a warning.

At AFC Leoparsds, Vasiljevic replaced fellow Serbian tactician Nikola Kavazovic, the man who he was to deputise at Ingwe.

The dul had worked together at Township Rollers of Botswana with Marko as the assistant coach.

Under the Serbian coach, Ingwe have only managed two wins from nine games and now lie fourth from bottom, on 10 points in as many matches and were knocked out of the Super Cup a week ago in their first match out and have only won one of their last five Premier League fixtures.
