AFC Leopards have been slapped with a Ksh 300,00 fine for the hooliganism act of their fans witnessed during their league match with Nzoia Sugar on January 6 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Suspended Club organising secretary Timothy Lilmubi has also been slapped with a fine of a similar amount and banned from football activities for five months(150 days).
The Kenyan Premier League’s Independent Disciplinary and Complaints Committee(IDCC) made the ruling on Monday.
During the match, Leopards fans assaulted match referee George Mwai.
“We have considered the oral evidence and the documentary evidence as a whole.
“We equally have taken note of the demeanor of the two witnesses. An assault is technically a tress pass on the person. We find no reason to dispute the rendition of Mr Mwai. We do not hesitate to hold that Mr Lilumbi, an official of AFC Leopards assaulted Mr Mwai and caused fans to join in the said misconduct ,”the IDCC said in a statement.
