Leopards friendly with Santos in limbo

The much anticipated high profile friendly match between Kenyan powerhouse AFC Leopards and Brazilian giants Santos FC scheduled for December 1 is in limbo.

Leopards’ football operations manager Tom Juma has stated that the match that was set to take place at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega is unlikely to materialize since Ingwe is yet to receive any official communication from the Brazilians.

Santos had also planned to play Gor Mahia in Kenya but K’Ogalo’s fixture glut has made them abandon the plans, as the Brazilians are yet to agree to a request to alternate the dates.

Leopards under head coach Nicola Kavazovic are scheduled to play a warm-up match with Wazito FC tomorrow before facing KCB on Saturday as they race to be in shape ahead of the new season that kicks off on December 8.

“I don’t think if that friendly shall materialize because there has been no official communication so far.

“They have not spoken to our office and that means that as per now that friendly is not on our radar,”Juma said.

Leopards will face Kariobangi Sharks on December 8 at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos in their season opener.
