Leopards head to Western for boot camp as preps intensify

Fresh from Iten High Altitude Training Camp, AFC Leopards are stepping up their preparations for the new season with a trip to Western Kenya on the cards.

The FKF Premier League is tentatively primed for a November 20 kickoff should the government approve a request by Football Kenya Federation for a restart and Leopards are leaving nothing to chance with their preparations with a Thursday travel date set.

Yesterday the team shrugged off National Super League side Ushuru FC 3-0 in a friendly at the GEMS Cambridge grounds, coach Tomas Trucha using the build-ups to work on his possible formation for the new season.

Leopards boss Dan Shikanda is however confident that everything will run smoothly.

“We are awaiting for a confirmation by FKF whether it is official we are starting the league on 20th or we’ll have to hold on. We cannot just start our tour and then we are told that the league is not anywhere near  commencing, “said Shikanda.

If we get that announcement from them let’s say by Wednesday then we shall travel on Thursday to Western Kenya for at least a six or seven days camp before returning,” Shikanda added.

Meanwhile Ingwe managed a comfortable 3-0 thrashing of National Super League side Ushuru FC in a friendly clash at the GEMS Cambridge grounds yesterday.

Ingwe had their goals scored by Clyde Senaji, Elvis Rupia and new acquisition and Congolese Fabrice Mugheni.

Leopards have beefed up their squad by roping in 13 new faces and releasing eight players.

Ingwe will lock horns with Western Stima in their FKF Premier League opening fixture scheduled for Nov 20 should  all go as planned.
