Leopards hold Bandari as Gor clobber Homeboyz

Fred Nkata and Cliff Kasuti were on target as hosts Bandari FC rallied from 2-0 down to force AFC Leopards to a draw in a four goal-thriller at the Mbaraki Sports Club, Mombasa on Thursday.

Cheered on by a big number of travelling fans, Leopards went ahead in the fifth thanks to Jaffary Owiti’s goal, with their second coming in the 12th through Vincent Oburu.

In another KPL match staged in Moi Stadium Kisumu, Champions Gor Mahia silenced Kakamega Homeboyz 3-0, to cling on the summit of the log.

Charles Momanyi and Ghanian import Francis Afriye scored for K’Ogalo, as Homeboyz scored in their own net to seal the defeat.

Kariobangi Sharks could not capitalise on home advantage in Kasarani, as visitors Ulinzi Stars sunk them 2-4, as Tusker FC were forced to a 2-2 draw by visiting Western Stima in Ruaraka.

Before Oburu could get Ingwe’s second, Nkata levelled after a goalmouth melee that saw Leopards’ keeper Benjamin Ochan unable to stop the Ugandan shot.

It was in the 12th minute, and before it lapsed, Oburu restored Ingwe’s lead before the hosts’ celebrations were over.

Fine exchanges between the two sides would end the first stanza with a reward for Bandari, as Cliff Kasuti found the leveller fifteen minutes to the break.

There would be no breakthrough in the second half, as the two sides struggled to impact out their slim chances.

After the match, Leopards coach Andre Casa Mbungo blamed lack of motivation as the hindrance to good performance.

“There are players who were not present. Things are thick, not only for the players but for me too. It’s only God who can help us, you all know the situation,” said the coach.

Leopards will next clash with Kisumu All Stars in Machakos while Bandari welcome Gor Mahia at in Mombasa on Sunday.
