Leopards in mad rush to fill vacant CEO slot

Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards have begun the process of recruiting a new CEO following the expiry of the term of Ronald Namai.

Leopards’ chairman Dan Mule told Citizen Digital that they have shortlisted four candidates for the post, including Namai.

The club hierarchy is due to hold interviews in the course of this week in a bid to fill the position.

“The tenure of Namai elapsed last year December and as at now we have shortlisted four candidates including Namai and we are confident that in the next two weeks we will be having a new CEO,” said Mule.

With the club now without a sponsor following the withdrawal of a betting company early this month, Mule has disclosed that one of their main aim is to bring on board someone who is able to stabilise the club financially by luring a new sponsor.

“We are specifically looking for a person who can improve our club financially because as at now we don’t have a sponsor. Moreover, we need somebody who can market our club and players internationally,” added Mule.

The position was advertised in December last year with the club’s National Executive Committee whittling the list to the final four.

Others are Victor Bwibo, Jacob Abisai, and Hector Como.

The new CEO is expected to shoulder many responsibilities as compared to his predecessors since the new constitution passed by the club in June last year delegated more responsibilities to the CEO from the NEC.One of the major duties on the incoming CEO is resource mobilization resources.

The 12-time KPL champions are currently preparing for the new KPL season set to kick off in February, as well as the Caf- Confederations Cup where Ingwe will face Fosa Juniors of Madagascar in the preliminary round following their heroics in the GOtv-Shield.
