Leopards in talks with Rupia over new deal

AFC Leopards head coach  Antony ‘Modo’ Kimani is hopeful the club will agree with striker Elvis Rupia to a new contract.

Rupia’s contract runs down at the end of this month and Kimani believes the ongoing talks between the player and the clubs will bare fruits.

“Every team in the world will always want to keep their bests players and that’s the same ambition we have. We want to build a team that will compete for trophies and to do that we must be able to attract and retain the best,” Kimani said.

Rupia joined the Den in January and has scored five goals  for his current side and the coach believes the former Wazito FC striker is only getting started.

“No one can doubt his ability to score goals; he joined our team and proved his worth. The fans and the technical bench are happy with him and the management assured us they will do their best to keep him at the clubs longer,” Kimani said.

The youthful tactician also confirmed the clubs is holding talks with different players in on order to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

“There are positions in the team that we need to strengthen with more options ,but the most affected is our attack that did perform as expected that’s our priority when the window opens.

“The whole world is facing financial challenges because of the covid 19 pandemic but the management has assured us they will do their best to get the best players for the club,” the former Kenyan international said.
