Leopards keen on league and cup double

AFC Leopards head coach Patrick Aussems says the FKF Cup and the Premier League are equally important and will pay the same level of attention for both competitions.

Leopards have emerged as one of the Premier League contenders under Aussems with yesterday’s 1-0 victory over Mathare United lifting them into second on the standings, behind leaders KCB only on goal difference.

They host Bidco United in another league match on Sunday before facing Posta Rangers in a Round 32 clash.

“First Sunday we have a league game against Bidco and after that we will play Posta in the Cup tie (FKF Cup competition) and for clarification the league is one target for us and the Cup tie is also another target,” Aussems said.

Aussems added he was happy to see Elvis Rupia back among the goals after he netted yesterday’s winner against Mathare.

“You know this is what I said, when we win 1-0 or 5-0 it’s only three points but in football what is difficult is to put the ball at the back of the net and I’m happy that Elvis scored today. More important is that the team did a good job,” Aussems said.

Leopards last won the FKF Cup in 2017 when they edged Kariobangi Sharks 2-0 in the final but have endured a long drought without a league title without their last triumph coming in 1998.
