Leopards’ Koops waiting for Good Samaritans to bail him out

Former AFC Leopards head coach Jan ‘Wepukhulu’ Koops is still stranded at the Metropolitan Hospital, Nairobi where he has been restrained since Saturday last week for accrued bill.

The Dutch was admitted at the hospital three weeks ago where he was diagnosed with hernia, a condition he says started with sharp abdominal pains.

Koops, who was appointed Leopards coach in 2011 and lead the team to finish third in 2012, could be out of hospital by close of business Wednesday.

Fans and well wishers have been contributing towards bailing out the tactician out, led by the Leopards fraternity.

“I have been here (at the hospital) for three weeks. I was supposed to leave on Saturday but was restrained; I could not raise KSh. 380, 000 that they demanded. From the well wishers, I have so far received KSh. 40,000 and I’m aware AFC Leopards fans are also planning to donate something,” Koops said.

Koops had two operations in the intestines which led to the huge bill, which he notes led to the huge bill against his expectations.

The ageing coach has not been in the limelight since he was re-appointed Leopards coach in 2014, despite being in the country.
