Leopards limp out of CAF Confederation Cup

AFC Leopards’ CAF Confederation Cup run ended at the first hurdle following their barren draw with FOSA Juniors at the Rabemananjara Stadium in Mahajanga, Madagascar.

Wednesday’s outcome meant the aggregate result ended 1-1 but hosts Juniors nonetheless progressed on away goal rule thanks to their precious strike at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega 10 days ago.

The Malagasy outfit will thus face Mauritian side AS Port Louis, who defeated Ngazi of Comoros 5-2 on aggregate, in the second round of the competition.

Leopards will turn their attention to domestic competitions with a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) fixture against Ulinzi Stars set for Sunday at the Thika Stadium.

The GOtv Shield Cup holders are placed 15th in the KPL log with a game in hand against Wazito FC.

Gor Mahia FC are the only remaining Kenyan representatives on the continental front and will look to seal their CAF Champions League progress when they play hosts Leones Vegetarianos in Equatorial Guinea later on Wednesday.

The KPL champions carry a healthy lead into the tie having won 2-0 in the February 10 first leg at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
