Leopards need to instill fear in opponents -Shikanda

AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda has vowed to transform the team to become a powerhouse and a force to reckon with in the region.

The Ingwe boss maintains that time is nigh for the big cats to instill fear in the opponents if they are to realize this long cherished dream.

According to the former Ingwe and Gor Mahia player, it’s time for Leopards to stamp their authority in the region to reclaim the lost glory.

“We were elected in office last year and I can assure you that we know where this club must go.

So let us be patient a bit now that the priority on the list is putting together a better infrastructure which is a team stadium.

“We also must ensure that Leopards clinch a league title in our first term in office as a foundation of reclaiming our regional prowess,” Shikanda said.

Shikanda has also underscored that his regime will not be distracted by court cases that may be filed challenging his leadership or that of the executive but instead focus on the betterment of the team.

“What we want to bring at AFC Leopards is to build a strong foundation. However, we will hear of some storms out there of people going to court to file cases, but I can assure them that regardless of the cases, we will focus on building that foundation for the club,” Shikanda added.

Ingwe are expected to unveil their new signings this month in readiness for the new season.

Shikanda was speaking at the funeral of Emurumba FC secretary general Ken Atila who was laid to rest at his home in Emakaka village in Lurambi constituency in Kakamega county over the weekend.

Leopards arch rivals Gor Mahia have already made some remarkable signings after losing a lot of players in the wake of the corona virus pandemic and now all the eyes are on Ingwe to know who will be donning their blue and white coloured jerseys when the league resumes.
