  • Leopards have so far registered nine wins, three losses and a draw to sit at  position three on 28 points, seven behind leaders Tusker who have played two more matches.
  • After a solid three-match winning streak against Ulinzi Stars, Kakamega Homeboyz and bogey team City Stars, Ingwe face Vihiga United at Mumias Sugar Sports Complex in their next assignment.

AFC Leopards should lift the FKF-PL title this season to make it a perfect 57th anniversary, club legend George Sunguti has said.

Sunguti who donned the famous blue and white colours in the 1990s is confident that there is a strong indicator Ingwe are ripe and ready to roar all the way to the crown.

“We are just lacking that league title and that is what we should and has prioritized this season.

I am very confident that this is our year, even if we are marking 57-year celebrations we will crown it by finishing top of league,”Sunguti added.

The 12-time champions who were red-hot between 1970s through to the 1990s are seeking to end a two-decade title hoodoo and Sunguti is encouraged by the current crop of players who he says are hungry for a title.

“So far the team is perfectly assembled and we are seeing results which define the hard work they are putting in.

I am very happy with the boys. Yes, we have been through thick and thin on matters finances but we are very lucky it has not reflected on the pitch,” Sunguti said.

Sunguti played with other Ingwe greats such as Francis Kadenge, Reginald Asibwa, Wilberforce Mulamba, Peter Lichungu, Omar Shaban, and John Busolo just to mention a few.
