Leopards out to reclaim spots against Thika

Despite the inconsistent run of form, woeful AFC Leopards are aiming to get all the three points when they play host to Thika United in a Kenyan Premier League match on Wednesday at the Thika Stadium.

Leopards’ team manager, Gilbert Selebwa exuded confidence that despite an injury ravaged squad, the boys are fired up for the challenge.

“Players who have been on the injury list are so many but right now the morale is back .The return of Matano(Robert)has helped the team because he has instilled discipline,” Selebwa said.

Striker Raymond Omondi tops the list of those in the treatment room, while defender Joshua Mawira, Macus Abwao, Abdala Salim and Okaka Aziz are also in the sick bay.

Leopards’ poor form has put them in an awkward position occupying the 14th slot on the log after 24 rounds of matches on just 28 points.

The fiery coach Matano is expected to make a number of changes for the game.

“As we go to Thika, we are aiming to bag maximum points to help us hit 30 point mark and possibly improve on our position,”Selebwa said, adding, “We are however aware that Thika United is wounded and want to play to win.”

At the same time, Thika United coach Nicholas Muyoti has said that he is concerned by his team’s sluggish run but is taking one game at a time.

“For us every game is now like a final and I’m happy that my lads have really improved on their morale.”Muyoti said. “What I want is to see my team finishing outside the bottom five so as to avoid relegation.”

Muyoti maintains that his side gifted Ingwe with “easy” goals in the first leg and is warning against complacency in front of goal when they face-off with the big cats.

“We have a problem in the striking force but I hope those players who will be given that role will step up,”he added.

Thika United is at position 16 with 22 points, three behind 15th placed Mathare United
