AFC Leopards attacker Allan Kateregga has been sent to Kampala Capital City Authority FC (KCCA) in a loan deal that will keep him at the Ugandan top flight side for three months.

The pacy Ugandan is yet to feature in any Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash for Leopards having been frozen out by Head Coach Robert Matano but has been tipped to help Azam Premier League champions defend their title.

Leopards Chief Executive Officer Ronald Namai has confirmed that Matano will assess whether or not to include the Ugandan in his plans when his loan deal runs out.

“Kateregga is now a KCCA player till the end of the year and then we will review him after finalizing agreement Tuesday,” Namai said.

The Kampala-based club, which currently leads the standings having won five points from three matches played made the announcement on their official website.

“Midfielder Allan Kateregga joins KCCA on loan from AFC Leopards,” the statement read but terms of the deal remain undisclosed.

KCCA’s biggest win margin of the season came at the Star Times Stadium on Monday where they hit Onduparaka 4-1 to go top.

“Talks have been ongoing for almost three weeks after coach Matano revealed he does not feature in his plans until ‘maybe’ next year.

Kateregga, 23, has previously played for Bidco Bul FC and Victoria University Sports Club – both from Uganda – and is thus not new to the region’s domestic league football. He also earned four caps with the Ugandan national Under-21s, scoring two goals in the process.

KCCA Coach Mike Mutebi will hope the latest addition to his squad will provide further firepower having begun their title defence bid on a low note, settling for a goalless draw in their opener before settling for a frustrating 1-1 stalemate in their second.
