Leopards players decry lack of medical cover

The previous insurer,  AAR was unable to renew the cover for reasons not explained by the Leopards officials. AAR are tight lipped on the matter, only saying they act on the instructions of the club officials.

Players who spoke on condition of anonymity said they were only promised outpatient services, a promise yet to be honored.

“We were asked to fill the outpatient forms but to date, no services have been offered.

“The club has only renewed the outpatient one but inpatient remains locked,”revealed a player.

Ingwe has performed poorly in the first leg of the KPL this season, currently sitting 12th with 16 points after 14 matches. Some quarters have suggested some players might have been playing injured.

A club official however claims they have not neglected their players, underscoring the importance of medical cover.

“We have outpatient medical cover but we are still working on the inpatient one. We well understand what it means to provide such basics for players,” the official told Citizen Digital.

Lack of funds has been cited as the cause of the problem, at a time official club sponsor has threatened to withdraw in January 2018.
