Leopards talisman Rupia in Tusker’s radar

AFC Leopards top scorer Elvis Rupia is among the players on the radar of the league leaders Tusker thanks to his goal scoring form, Leopards assistant coach Tom Juma has claimed.

With the 2020-2021 FKF-PL season just three matches away from conclusion, teams are expected to be busy in the transfer market to beef up their squads in preparation for the new season which begins on September 25 and Juma says its  normal for ‘good players’ to attract other suitors.

Former club captain Robinson Kamura, Clyde Senaji and first choice shot-stopper Benjamin Ochan are the other players linked with a move away from Ingwe.

There are so many players who are linked to a number of clubs and we are going to see. There are those who have run out of contract we will negotiate with them to stay but those who still have running contracts with us we can’t sell them to other clubs,” Juma said.

Former club captain Robinson Kamura, Clyde Senaji and first choice shot-stopper Benjamin Ochan are among the players linked with moves away from the club.

At the same time Juma has hailed coach Patrick Aussems decision to extend his stay at the den adding that it will play a part in tying down some of the players to new deals.

“That is one of the biggest factors (that will decide if our players will commit) because there is that continuity and growth.

For the coach to decide to stay for two more years has given players confidence that something good is happening and expectations will be high,” Juma concluded.

Rupia is currently second on the scorers’ charts with 16 goals, six behind Kariobangi Sharks goal poacher Eric Kapaito with only three matches to go.

His scoring prowess has contributed to the Leopards march to FKF Cup finals where they lost to rivals Gor Mahia and are well placed to finish third on the log behind Tusker and KCB should they win all their remaining matches.
