Leopards, Ulinzi ease to Shield semis

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) sides AFC Leopards and Ulinzi Stars made light work of their Shield opponents from lower divisions as they eased into the semis on Saturday.

Holders Leopards thrashed Kenya Police 4-1 at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega before Ulinzi achieved a similar scoreline later at the same venue against Riverplate FC.

Goals from Whyvonne Isuza, Ezekiel Odera, Eugene Mukangula and Brian Marita put Leopards on cruise control against Police with Martin Mutua scoring a late consolation goal for the NSL side.

Enosh Ochieng, Ibrahim Shambili, Daniel Waweru and Elijah Mwanzia were on target for Ulinzi with Kennedy Wandiri striking a late consolation for the Western Branch League side.

The Soldiers will thus face the winner of Sunday’s fourth quarterfinal match pitting Gor Mahia against Kariobangi Sharks. Leopards, meanwhile, will play either of Sofapaka and Tusker FC, who will face off in the third quarterfinal on Sunday in Machakos.
