Lionesses fall to Madagascar in Rugby Africa Cup match

The Kenya women’s rugby team Lionesses lost 27-15 in their Rugby Africa Women’s Cup tie against Madagascar on Saturday.

The early kick off fixture at the newly refurbished Nyayo Stadium saw Lionesses fail to convert their chances as Madagascar seized the opportunity to score four tries and one conversion for a 22- 10 scoreline as the girls headed to the dressing room.

Soon after the interval both sides worked and toiled for a try to extend their scores but it was an unconverted try for both teams that saw the match end 27-15 in favour of the  visiting Madagascar.

The teams face off at the same venue on July 11 in a return leg.

The Rugby Africa Cup is an annual rugby tournament involving African nations, organised by Rugby Africa.

The tournament was brought into the limelight in 2000 and has since been hosted by different African nations on an annual basis.
