Lucy Kabuu handed two-year ban

Milano Marathon champion Lucy Kabuu has been handed a two- year ban after she tested positive for prohibited substance morphine.

The Athletics Integrity Unit(AIU) confirmed the ban on Monday afternoon in a message on their Twitter handle.

The ban will in essence run from August 1-2018- August 1,2020, dealing a big blow to her  career.

The former Commonwealth 10,000m champion was suspended in August 2018 and in a decision made on Monday, the AIU which is charged to monitoring athletes against doping, confirmed the ban.

Kabuu becomes the third high profile Kenyan to test positive to banned substances.

Others who have tested positive to banned substances include three-time  World 1500m champion Asbel Kiprop and African Games 400m silver medallist Boniface Mweresa

The 34-year-old Olympian has a personal best of 2:19.34 she attained at the Dubai Marathon in 2012 and her last race coming at the Delhi Half Marathon in 2013 in which she finished third.
