Menengai Cream Homeboyz RFC utility Augustine Lugonzo and KCB RFC forward Andrew Amonde are the returnee call-ups in the Shujaa squad named on Thursday ahead of the Sydney and Hamilton Sevens.

Amonde who has attained full fitness after undergoing hernia injury will be joined by Dan Sikuta and Oscar ‘Big Wheels’ Ouma to complete the forwards line.

Ouma has been named skipper in the absence of injured Oscar Ayodi and will be deputized by Samuel Oliech as head coach Innocent ‘Namcos’ Simiyu continues to tinker with the armband responsibilities.

Lugonzo who missed the better part of last season due personal commitments will take up the role of scrum half with the help of the swift Brian Tanga as injured Collins injera misses out.

Eden Agero and Oliech will take up the kicking duties as the Shujaa seek to rack up more points tally to add to the 13 they already have in the bag.

Menengai Oilers duo of Samuel ‘Smurf’ Muregi and Eric Ombasa also made it to the travelling party for the upcoming assignments.

Willy Ambaka and Arthur Owira’s pace, experience and power will come in handy for the Shujaa look to find incision in the global circuit.

Top Fry Nakuru RFC speedster Nelson Oyoo and Menengai Homeboyz youngster Jeff Oluoch also made the final cut.

Shujaa are pooled alongside Series contenders Argentina, France and Wales in Pool B of the Sydney Sevens.

The squad naming comes in the wake of uncertainty as to whether the team will honour their assignments after their main sponsor cancelled their partnership over tax row with the Government.

KRU Chairman Richard Omwela had reiterated they will slash players contract and allowances in order to facilitate the upcoming assignments.
