Luis Suarez the best in the world Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers was full of praise for Barcelona striker Luis Suarez, describing the Uruguayan as the ‘best in the world’.

Celtic face the Catalan giants in the Champions League on Tuesday, with Rodgers believing Suarez has been able to improve an already world class team.

“In this moment in time Luis is the best striker in the world. I don’t think there are any questions about that. First of all, when you speak about Luis Suarez you have to speak about the man.

“Suarez is one of the most beautiful men you can come across. Very humble guy who works tirelessly at his profession, he’s super professional, a family man who gives everything for his life as a footballer and for his family,” the former Liverpool boss said.

The 29-year-old spent two seasons under the Northern Irishman at Anfield, culminating in Liverpool’s second-placed finish in the 2013-14 season.

“For me, I had the pleasure of working with Luis as a human being for two years and he was incredible. As a footballer, I think he’s the best in the world and the biggest compliment you give Luis is that he came to an already world class team and he made them better.

“When I see them play now, Barcelona would not be the same team without Suarez playing in the team. A good guy, we keep in contact, he loves his life out here, his family love it, he’s scored so many goals, so many assists, an incredible player but I was fortunate enough to know him as a person as well and he’s a really good man,” Rodgers added.
