Kenya Sevens head coach Innocent ‘Namcos’ Simiyu believes his team will give a better performance in the second inter-regional series, Madrid Sevens, to be played this weekend in Spain.

According to Simiyu, they are currently recovering from last weekend’s tourney as they plan to resume training on Wednesday.

“So for us it is just how to get better going forward to this weekend, we took our off yesterday. Our plan was all about recovery and we’ll resume training today evening,” said Simiyu.

“We believe the boys will recover and will put on a better performance in the next tournament,” added Namcos.

Shujaa finished second in the first series losing 14-21 to Argentina.  Simiyu regrets the missed chances and mistakes made which Argentina capitalized on to win the match.

“Argentina played well and they were able to convert their opportunities as compared to us,” observed Simiyu. “The key challenge for us is that we were unable to adapt very well because of our worst defence which led to errors resulting in tries and our target, going forward, is to take our chances and minimise errors.

Kenya is using the tournament as a dress rehearsal for the upcoming Olympics in Tokyo later this year.
