Madrid Sevens: Shujaa, Lionesses aim for improved perfomances

The Kenya rugby sevens team will kick off their second inter-regional series, Madrid Sevens tournament in Spain against Portugal this weekend.

Shujaa have been drawn against hosts Spain, Chile, USA, Argentina and Portugal with the tourney using a round robin circuit with the best teams qualifying for the knockout stage.

The match against Portugal will be played on Saturday at 1:06 pm after which they’ll face USA at 4:34 pm and wrap up day one action against host Spain at 7:18pm (EAT).

On Sunday they’ll confront Chile at 1:20 pm then conclude the round robin circuit against Argentina at 3:42 pm (EAT).

On the other hand Lionesses will open their campaign against Russia then tackle Poland, USA, France and hosts Spain, using the same round robin circuit.

The match against Russia will be played at 12:00 pm, after which they’ll entertain Poland at 3:28 pm and wrap up day one action against USA at 5:50 pm (EAT).

The two teams will be angling for improved performances after a not-so-impressive show in the  first legs held last weekend.

Shujaa finished second in the first inter-regional series held last weekend while Lionesses came out last.
