Malkia hopeful of first Group 2 Grand Prix win in Poland

Kenya national women’s volleyball team Malkia Strikers will put more effort to win its first match in the Group Two of FIVB World Grand Prix 2016 in Wloclawek, Poland.

Malkia Strikers were sent to the cleaners in the second tier of the global circuit in their opening three matches against Argentina, Bulgaria and Dominican Republic in Tucuman Argentina where they showed fight in the last game, losing narrowly in every set.

Where Argentina’s ‘Las Panteras’ handed the African queens a 3-0 thrashing (25-22, 25-21 and 25-13) followed by a Europeans’ Bulgaria triumph in similar fashion (25-17, 25-17, 25-9) the loss to the Dominicans (25-21, 25-21 and 25-20) ignited expectation they could register a first triumph.

Head Coach David Lungaho is hopeful that they will secure a win in Poland.

“Tomorrow (Friday) when we get to the court we want to get better results, we know that the first leg was very tough and this leg is also tough but at least we’ve  gotten a real experience and we are now used to playing at this level so we expect better results,” Lung’aho added.

“All the players are in good shape no injuries, no sicknesses, the players are more focused they want to achieve, they believe in themselves and however tough they want to get better results. Our aim is to at least come here with some few points even if we are not going to play for the finals which is not on order, we will be there may be  next time,” the coach asserted.

Kenya is doing their last training on Thursday before their opening match against Puerto Rico.
