Maloba confident as SPL rivals eye top City Star aces

City Stars midfielder Oliver Maloba is confident that the Kawangware-based side will finish the season in a comfortable position amid rumours that a host of top players could be departing the club in the June transfer window.

Jimmy Bageya’s displays for the Kawangware-based side in their recent giant-slaying acts have caught the eyes of several top Sportpesa Premier League sides.

With Bobby Ogolla’s club apparently lacking the financial muscle keep big teams off their key players in June, Maloba is already looking at the brighter side, saying it would a good chance for the emergence of new stars from within the club.

“We have  splendid back up of talent and these players have not had the chance to feature in any of our matches so far. We wish those who want to go all the best but we are sure we will build and come back stronger again,” said the long-serving midfielder.

Maloba is on record complaining about how the club has always failed to make  steady progress in the league as a result of losing their best players every season forcing them rebuild each time, a trend that  said to have  agitated the player.

Bageya has already netted twice having trained with AFC Leopards during  pre-season and although there were rumours that the forward would sign for Ingwe, nothing materialized.

The Kawangware-based side has been dubbed ‘the club with nine lives’ for their ability to avoid a drop from the Kenyan Premier League, notoriously towing between the relegation zone and the survival zone.
